What Is Concerta?

Concerta is an amphetamine-based (stimulant) prescription medication used in the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD. It is believed to work by interacting with the chemicals in the brain that contribute to ADHD.

Potential Dangers And Health Risks

The potential health risk that may result from Concerta snorting can include damage to nasal cavities, nasal infections, irregular heartbeat, psychosis, aggression, agitation, circulation problems, toxic shock, and possible death.

In addition, abusing Concerta via snorting can lead to Concerta abuse or addiction which can occur when an individual begins to depend on the high a drug provides.

Abuse and addiction is characterized by increasing doses and more frequent episodes of use, followed by a depressive episode.

Further, misusing this medication can result in Concerta withdrawal which can result in depression, psychosis, restlessness, and extreme feelings of agitation.

Concerta Safety Tips

Do not snort this medication or use it for weight loss purposes. Also, it is illegal to purchase it from a friend or from the internet without a prescription.

Never share your Concerta with others, and do not take any medication that is not prescribed for you.

Only take Concerta under the direct supervision of your doctor; follow the prescription exactly. The best way to avoid abuse is to take your medication as prescribed.

If you develop an addiction, there is hope. Consult with your doctor; get substance abuse treatment referrals. You doctor can slowly wean you off of Concerta in order to avoid withdrawal. If Concerta does not work for you, your doctor may try other ADHD medications that are less prone to abuse.
